Innovation in Space Award 2022 awarded to the H2020 Hi-SIDE research project

The H2020 Hi-SIDE research project (https://www.hi-side.space/) in which the Professors of the School of Science, Professor Antonis Paschalis (Department of Informatics and Telecommunications) and Asst. Professor Nektarios Kranitis (Department of Aerospace Science and Technology), as well as members of the space technology research team of the Digital Systems and Computer Architecture Laboratory (DSCAL), received the Innovation in Space Award 2022 at the European Space Forum 2022. The award recognizes the contribution of the HI-SIDE project to the development of next-generation space systems on-board data handling and high-speed data transfer for Earth Observation space missions and is a particularly important achievement for the Hi-SIDE consortium.

For the space technology team of the DSCAL Laboratory, who participated with Airbus DS in the development of the Hi-SIDE Data Compression Module, but also for the Departments of Informatics & Telecommunications and Aerospace Science & Technology of the School of Sciences of the NKUA, it is another recognition, in addition to that of participating in the space upstream of the PROBA-3 and TRUTHS space missions, as an island of excellence in space technology Designed in Greece.
