Data Science and Information Technologies

The MSc Program “Data Science and Information Technologies (DSIT)” is by its very nature intensely interdisciplinary. Its objective is to deepen the knowledge and strengthen the skills of its students in Data Science, Big Data, AI, applied mathematics, statistical methods, as well as their application in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biomedical Data Science, and the Life Sciences in general. The program focuses on subjects related to the management, processing, analysis, and software for massive or complex data, on which machine learning and AI can be based, as well as on the development of mathematical models, algorithms, statistical analysis, image processing and analysis, and natural language processing. Moreover, it explores and discusses tools in bioinformatics, computational and systems biology, in the era of heterogeneous -omics big data aiming to improve human health. The DSIT Program is organized and administered by the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of NKUA, in collaboration with the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens (BRFAA) and the ATHENA Research Center. The courses are taught by Professors and Researchers of these institutions with experience in the Program’s fields of study, by PhD scientists of other institutions in Greece and abroad, as well as by experienced industry specialists.
